Micromax YU Yureka vs. Xiaomi Redmi Note,Both Xiaomi Redmi Note and Micromax YU Yureka have taken the Indian smartphone market by storm thanks to their features and competitive pricing below the Rs 10,000-mark. While the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3G-4G has been around for a while now, the recently launched YU Yureka from Micromax has kept the industry talking about the new product.

The 3G version of the Redmi Note has been priced at Rs 8,999 while the 4G version costs Rs 9,999. Heating up competition in the sub-Rs 10,000 segment, Micromax has priced the Micromax YU Yureka at Rs 8,999.With features that are only a privilege to high end smartphones, the competition has been taken to a new level altogether.

Display: The Redmi Note comes with a 5.5-inch IPS HD display with 720×1280 pixels resolution that gives 267 pixels per inch (PPI). As for the physical dimensions, it measures 154.00×78.70×9.50 (mm). Micromax’s YU Yureka comes with the same screen size and resolution. It has the same PPI resolution too. However, the Yureka is slightly thinner at 8.80 mm.

Operating System: While the Redmi Note comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and is likely to be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop soon, Yureka comes with Cyanogen OS which is based on Android operating system and offers features and options not found in the official firmware that is distributed by most mobile device vendors. So, which is better? It’s hard to say as only time will tell how good the Cyanogen OS is.

Processor: Redmi Note 3G boasts of a 1.7 GHz MediaTek MT 6592 octa-core with Mali 450 GPU processor supported by 2GB of RAM while the 4G version comes with a 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. The Yureka is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa core processor, a 64-bit multi-core CPU with 2GB RAM.

Memory: This is the area where Yureka has a superior hand as Redmi Note offers 8 GB of internal memory compared to YU’s 16 GB. However, memory on both these devices is expandable by upto 32 GB with SD micro cards.

Camera: No winner or loser here as both smartphones offer a 13 MP back camera with LED flash and a front-facing 5MP camera for selfie lovers.

Battery: In the battery section, Redmi Note boasts of a stronger strength with a 3100 mAh battery while the YU Yureka offers 2500 mAh battery capacity. Nevertheless, both the companies claim that their smartphones give a full one-day battery life on average usage.

Price: This is what often helps or leaves the customers confused while buying a phone. But the pricing of these smartphones will not burn a hole in one’s pocket considering they both cost under Rs 10,000. While the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3G is priced at Rs 8,999, the 4G variant is priced at Rs 9,999 only. YU Yureka has been priced at Rs 8,999.
